The Daily Halacha Moment - Indirect Moving of Muktzeh 📱

Question:
May one indirectly move muktzeh?
Answer:
There are times when Indirect movement, known as tiltul min hatzad, is permitted. This is done by carrying the item that the muktzeh item is resting upon. [1] This is permitted if the purpose of the movement is not for the benefit of the muktzeh. However, if the purpose of the movement is for the benefit of the muktzeh then it is prohibited to be moved. For instance, if one left money on a chair, he may move the chair if one needs the space, but one may not move the chair if he wants to protect the money. [2] If tilting the muktzeh object off of the non-muktzeh object is possible, then one should do so before picking it up entirely. [3] Similarly, one may pick up a non-muktzeh object even though it may move a muktzeh object as one is picking it up. [4]
If one intentionally placed the muktzeh item from before Shabbat than it is a Bassis Le'davar Haasur.
