Who's Obligated To Recite Birkot Hashachar?

The Daily Halacha Moment - Who's Obligated To Recite Birkot Hashachar?

״כל השונה הלכות בכל יום - מובטח לו שהוא בן העולם הבא״ (נידה עג ע״א, מגילה כח:)

“Anyone who studies Halachot every day is guaranteed that he is destined for the world-to-come” (Megilla 28b, Niddah 73a)

Question:

Who's Obligated To Recite Birkot Hashachar?

Answer:

Although birkot Hashachar was originally instituted for specific actions or experiences, they are still recited even if one does not perform the action or experience the benefit. For example, one recites HaNoten LaSechvi Binah (Who gives the roaster knowledge) even if they did not hear a rooster crow, and a blind person may still recite the blessing of Pokeach Ivrim (Who gives sight to the blind). However, if a blind person asks, we tell them not to recite it because of the concept of safek berachot lehakel (when in doubt we rule lenient).[1]

Just as men, so do women recite all the Birkot HaShachar, but with a few modifications: instead of Shelo Asani Isha, they say She’asani Kirtzono without mentioning Hashem's name. In place of Shelo Asani Aved, they recite Shelo Asani Shifcha, and instead of Shelo Asani Goy, they say Shelo Asani Goyah. [2]
